In my mind.

Today as we were leaving church, the Primary music leader said to Nicolas: "Good job singing today, Nick!" I looked at him and he looked confused. I asked him if he was a good singer today, and he said: "Um, I was singing in my mind. That's how I like to sing." Funny kid.

Of course, it's still March.

I am very ready for Spring and warmer weather to arrive.

We love movies!

Today is a rarity: Chris actually had a Friday off from work. This morning the boys and I went to our Cub Scouts meetings, then when we got home, we all headed out for some family fun at the movies. Chris took the two older boys and went to see 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid', which just came out today. Noah, of course having read the books, was very eager to get to see this movie, and Chris said it was actually really funny. He said he laughed out loud several times, which is how Noah was as he read the book - apparently amused by the "school boy humor"! While they were seeing that movie, I took Sophie and Nick to see 'Alice in Wonderland', in 3D. It was great. I would definitely recommend this movie to families, although I would suggest keeping in mind it is a Tim Burton film, and so a bit dark (think Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride), but very well done, awesome acting and not too scary. Nicolas didn't take his eyes off the screen the whole time.
After the movies, we went to a pizza place for an early dinner, and now we're home and the kids are playing quietly while Chris is outside working on the chicken coop. I'm off to get going on some laundry, as I look forward to a midnight run to Wal-Mart tonight to pick up the special edition of the newly released 'New Moon' on DVD!

Where the Wild Things Are, (and update pics).

It's funny the intensity of the rivalry between Sophie and Noah, considering that they are actually so similar in their likes and dislikes. Here they are this afternoon watching "Where the Wild Things Are", while Nicolas and Sam (the other 'two of a kind') played with Legos at the kitchen table.

I've made a couple of additions to the boys' room walls. Sam asked me to put a Starcoin here:

Not bad for free-handing it!

Sophie has had what we like to call "the shark tooth phenomenon" going on for a while now. That means that several of her adult teeth had started to grow in, even though she hasn't lost the corresponding baby tooth. She finally lost the remaining top, front baby tooth tonight, and now I'm hoping that the adult tooth will shift and grow into the right spot. I definitely see braces in my kids' futures! :(

Oh good grief! We've hit the double digits.

I fear that we're getting dangerously close to the days of having teenagers in our house! Noah's 10th birthday is on Monday, but we celebrated today because it's the last day of the school week and he has a friend over to spend the night. This is his first sleepover, as Chris and I aren't really fans of the whole sleepover thing, but we figured he's getting old enough to do it (once). ;)


From us Noah was given the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Lightning Thief game for DS, and we also gave him book 2 of the series. He has been getting the other books (1, 3, 4, &5) from the Book Mobile at school, but oddly enough they don't have a copy of book 2, so he just skipped it and read all the others. He was very happy to get the book and as of right now, he's already in chapter 4! He's reading while his friend is playing the DS, and their plan is to stay up all night. We'll see how that goes!

Super Mario big reveal!

My boys have been begging me for awhile now to redo their bedroom with different paint colors. I first painted their room 5 years ago when we moved into this house, and they had 'ABC' quilts for their beds with a light blue and green color scheme, so that's what I went with. Noah informed me he was tired of the light colors, so this is what we came up with for their "new" room. The best part, I think, is that I let them draw the sketches that I then turned into stencils for the mushrooms and question blocks, and let them paint them themselves.

I still need to get a frame for the poster over Nick's bed, and I've ordered a magnetic dry erase board to hang on the wall where the boys can put some cool Mario Bros. magnets I found online.
